Attorney Gorton is also managing the permitting for the proposed Newport Beach Club, an addition to the Carnegie Resort featuring 152 luxury residences, member accommodations, yacht club, clubhouse, restaurant, equestrian center and other amenities, which recently obtained Town Master Plan approval. Also in process under the supervision of Gorton Law Offices is the local permitting for Weaver Cove, a mixed use Planned Marina Village Development featuring retail shops, offices, residences, harbor walk, hotel and yacht club centered around a 1400+ slip marina. Vernon L. Gorton Jr. has considerable experience in "green development" having served as legal counsel for two large scale energy efficient school dormitories, and an energy independent residence. Attorney Gorton also secured the local permits for the first privately operated large scale wind turbine in Rhode Island, the groundbreaking wind turbine at the Portsmouth Abbey School.
